Weekend Relief

So it's been awhile and I apologize. We kept ourselves quite busy the past few days. :) Here are the highlights.

Thursday
Our trainer's van would not start again so Val and I stayed at the hotel for the morning while the boys drove 40 minutes away to do two presentations. Thankfully, we had AAA come and get the van started then took it to the Honda delearship where they replaced the battery. This was a great blessing since it was the battery's fault and it was still way under warranty! They took good care of us and we were on the road again in no time.

After we reunited with the boys, we all drove to Rockland, Maine to see Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. It was absolutely beautiful! The walk to the lighthouse is 7/8 mile long all on pieced together rocks. We had to keep our eyes on the ground most of the time in order to not trip in the cracks (which were big enough for Dale to climb into!).

After our walk and looking for seashells, we drove to Camden, ME and had dinner at Bayview Lobster Restaurant where the lobster is quite fresh! Our dinner entertainment was watching Tony crack open and devour his 1 1/2 pound fresh lobster!

It was a refreshing and wonderful evening....until we got to the Admiral Inn. Oh boy! Let's just say, sleeping in the van was very tempting. Sorry, no pictures of it because we didn't really want to remember it.

Friday
After a quite sleepless night, we were packed up and ready to go by 6:45 am and got to our first school by 7:30. It was a small but very friendly school. Then we packed up and drove a half hour to Liberty, ME where Dale did his very first presentation in front of actual high schoolers! He did a wonderful job and really related with the high schoolers. You could hardly tell at all that he was nervous! It was quite impressive and I was very proud of him.

After his presentation, all the guys got changed and played a round of basketball. It was a great visit with this small school and we were able to get to know the students pretty well. It was really neat because three of the schools we had visited were all going to a cross country meet at a school we were at earlier in the week. So we decided to go and cheer them all on! It was great to see everyone again and watch them compete. It was also neat to see all of the schools (9 in the competetion) mingling and hanging out with each other. We truly enjoyed ourselves and were very thankful we went!

Another HUGE blessing from Friday was that the Comfort Suites in Biddeford, ME was willing to give us an amazing deal so we were able to book there for the weekend! What a difference between the Admiral and here! We are really spoiled in this room, but I am so thankful the Lord provided it for us!

Saturday
It was quite the feeling to wake up this morning with no scheduled responsibility. We were able to tackle a couple loads of laundry, eat breakfast and lunch all without leaving the hotel. It was great just to relax. This afternoon we went to a Cabela's that was only ten miles down the road and shopped around for a couple of hours. Dale will be doing some training and washing the van after dinner, but other than that, we have been happy just to chill.

  2. I agree with Jerelyn--it is wonderful to read your colorful updates and see the accompanying photos. Excellent job on all accounts!! So good to read things from a woman's perspective too, as you comment on all of the things we're interested in, such as having some relaxation time, good motels, bad motels, good meals, how well Dale did, etc. Looking forward to stopping back often. We love you very much.
